The purpose of an army is to destroy things and kill the enemy. We shouldn't have our men and women riding around the Afghan countryside waiting to be blown up by suicide bombers hell bent on jihad.

Well said.

At the time I supported what we were doing, it was an honorable thing to do. But you can't take a country of cavemen and drag them (many kicking and screaming) into the 21st century.

In retrospect, all parties may have been better served sending a few nukes to well selected sites, speaking the language of strength, fear, and vengeance which the muslim understands.

Yes they are in plain site. The enemy should not know their where about all the time. More special ops and more killing of lots of taliban.. This is so sad.

Not well enough. Too simplistic. The purpose is to defeat the enemy. Killing and destroying are but two ways.
