You don’t think a 7 month pregnant woman could handle two sandwiches?!

This story is evidence of cultural decay.

This would never have happened in Mayberry. Aunt Bea might have forgotten to pay for a sandwich, but the store clerk would have gone out of his way to ensure she was not embarrassed by it.

Dumbass cop mentality took over and BOTH parents went to jail leaving the baby with CPS. Dumb! If arrests just had to happen, they should not have arrested both parents so that one of them could have taken the baby over-night. The obvious fact that the woman was pregnant should have exempted her from jail for christ’s sake. Like I said, if you want to understand what happened here, go brush your teeth with a wire brush!

Exactly...The gestapo could have diffused the problem even tho the manager was too stupid to do so...

The Fox story *does* say two; the original doesn’t.

As I said in my first post: there are inconsistencies.

Shopping with a 3 year old alone is enough to make a mom go wacky.

Imagine what shopping with a three-year-old and your husband must do.

Yeah, retainer ~ and also staff attorneys. Safeway is a corporation and must have a lawyer appear in court on their behalf.

The additional time will cost them bucks, plus, lawyers aren't exactly fungible so they'll be hiring a SPECIALIST who isn't presently on retainer.

This one will cost mucho dinero.

Right, right, I’m going to drive back to the store and burn $5 in fuel to recover $3 in grapes?

Moronic.

I’ll sample a single grape and make sure they are good. You feel free chase me down in the parking lot for it. We will see how that turns out.

And, yes, two sandwiches for a woman at 30 weeks, especially after walking a distance (with a 3yo to boot) isn’t a lot.

I have a sore back. How many free sandwiches do I get?

haha

I just found out I was anemic this week (not pregnant)
I have a very demanading job and I have not been thinking as clearly as I should. I hope I don’t get arrested for forgetting something before my iron pills kick in.

Yikes

I agree. I have gotten stuff home only to find it was inedible or sour. I don’t have forever to be running back to the store and talking with customer service.

Notice the fox story says, “two $5 sandwiches.” The original story which several times says it’s “a sandwich.”

Do you have the link to her blog?

"...how hard could it have been to ask her to pay for the item"...before she ate it...?

Also...
"I think she forgot."
"She was pregnant"
"needed to eat"
"World is full of a-holes."

Please, entertain us with some more colorful excuses for it being alright to steal.

I believe our Safeway (I think that’s Dominicks in this neck of the woods), gives you double the value of your return, in cash. If you are so pressed for time, maybe you shouldn’t buy perishables and eat dirt, or something.

Hypothetical.

I wouldn’t call it stealing, she forgot.

Have you never forgotten something? Just wait until you are senile and forget to pay a bill or something. Mr High & Mighty.

Well we don’t have a Safeway, we have Price Chopper and they don’t give double back on your inedible crap, and since you probably have a wife who shops why don’t you not assume I have a ton of time on my hands. If the store offers food for sale, it should be fit for human consumption.
