Re: Bachmann being press bombed with kook/dumb. I bet they are grinding their widdle toofies in regret and despair right now. Oh if only they could take it all back...

Up the road a bit from where I was raised was the small hick town of Ladsen—somewhere between Goose Creek and Summerville,SC.
Ladsen is a thriving city now.
But back in the 60s and early 70s it was KKK central and we heard many stories of racial crimes like the one you recounted happening there.
I suppose we were all at least a little racist back then—Hell,I was a commie hippy as well.
But the good ones grow and their minds gets right.

Outstanding post.

Unlike Obama and some of the Republicans, I do think Cain looks better the more we see of him. That’s why I think Romney should be nervous—the more I saw of Romney back when he was governor, the less I liked him.

Exactly. There's an X factor involved. I liked Bachmann early on but somehow the more I saw of her, the more I could see she was flaky. That Newsweek cover, despite being a contemptible media hit job, was right on the money. It captured her perfectly. But the more I see of Cain, the more I like him. He's got it. And having it is a huge advantage because it means the antidote to most of what the critics are saying about him is simply to give him more exposure. People have evolved finely tuned radar and can detect the truth about a person pretty readily. That's why the media couldn't lay a glove on Reagan. His truth was more self evident than their baloney.

It's interesting that you used the term it--I used it yesterday about Cain. He has that quality we look for and you just know it when you see it, but it's tough to describe accurately.

While the anecdote about Gardasil may be unsubstantiated, the side effects noted on the CDC website are substantiated. Keep in mind that no vaccine is 100% safe. Attempting to mandate a vaccine by fiat, is questionable practice at best, and not very 'Presidential'--unless you are in favor of Obama's style.

Of course, conventional wisdom is molded by the press, and they siezed public ignorance of the issue, the vaccine, and its side effects, to make Bachmann look like a nut. Few rose to her defense, even here, and the RINO herd was happy to use the issue to slam her out of Mitt's way.

The absence of an effective counter to that attack is what has hurt her, not being right about the inherent dangers in vaccinating a population unnecessarily or in the volumes spoken about the nature of someone trying to mandate that vaccine, whether they wrap it in the cover of genuine concern 'for the children' or not.

The vaccine is out there, sans mandate, and still can be obtained if people feel it is appropriate.

It is not effective against all HPV strains, and only two problem strains, and then not 100%. The risk/benefit analysis should be left to informed parents.

Ridicule remains one of Alinsky’s most effective weapons, deserved or not.

Inexperience is not always an asset. I generally vote second amendment. if a pol has no respect for the second, then he has no respect for the rest of them, except at his convenience. How does Cain stack up on the second?

Yes, ridicule is one of Alinsky agents’ most effective weapons as we can see what was done to Dan Quail way back and Sarah Palin more currently.

My point was that their success in slapping Bachmann back down to single digits has resulted in Herman Cain's recent surge which sure wasn’t what they wanted. Both her lost votes and Perry's as he faded (but not out yet) have gone to Cain for the most part.

Right now the Conservative vote is basically split three ways with Newt at about 10% and with an intelligent, personable, articulate, and LIKEABLE man in first place. The fact that he's black destroys their meme of Republicans and especially TEApartiers as racist. (Yes, I understand that current polling isn't final polling.)

Maybe more importantly, their current attempts to ridicule and diminish HIM are NOT WORKING. In fact their attacks are backfiring as the more they attack him, the more we like him.

BTW I hope Bachmann goes back to her House seat and even takes over as Speaker. She is very valuable to a freer, stronger USA and to us.

Cain has been reported to be checkered on this, that states should have a say in how their militias operate (but that Uncle Sam should not). Perry is “better” from that point of view, but he doesn’t seem to be terribly firm about “guarding the states from invasion.” Unless Perry wants to turn America loose to gun down illegales at will, we have a big political demographic bomb being set up by Perry.
