Didn’t happen in my Navy. 1975-1986. Guess that’s what you get when you relax the standards of the military. Much more to come with the DADT revision.

Opps, sorry Vet. I thought I was in the shoplifting thread. I’ll ask the Moderator to delete this.

My apologies.

I worked Boat Crew on the cruises till I made third class and saw zero's do some weird stuff. One tried to bring a pig back on the PB with him in Genoa. {Squadron Officer it musta been his date that night} LOL.

Seriously none of the officers got so drunk they were out of control of their actions. The only women you saw on ships was ones brought onboard for short visits by a sober enlisted or officer wearing required dress blues.

I do not believe a combat ship is a place for women. I have many good reasons for this belief besides the tensions it would cause. It has to affect such critical operations as man overboard muster and setting Zebra at GQ or the fire bell at zero dark thirty in the night. In all cases we ran down passageways dressing going to quarters. If it was man overboard you went too muster immediately and the Captain didn't care if you were in skivees. It was that important to get it done quickly as life was at stake.

Agreed.

Though I'm Army from the late '60's,

"Twenty officers have been relieved of command by the Navy this year.
Crimes, of a sexual nature or otherwise, are vigorously investigated and adjudicated as appropriate by the Navy, said Murray.
"We hold our people accountable and we expect commanding officers to uphold the highest personal and professional standards," said Murray."

It seems more than obvious that women are a negative influence in a testosterone world.

The military of any branch is all about war ... preparing for it and being trained for it.

I don't think it is misogynist to hold to the opinion that women have a place in the military but they interfere with the thought processes of a young man learning to break things.

The article says that officers have been been relieved of command ... what might the EM stats be?

He pleaded guilty in a plea bargain facing a 10 year sentence.

Sentenced to 42 months of prison and forfeit future benefits. (after 19 years of service)

Pretty costly action on his part.

I was in in 76 too. In fact, I spent the Bicentennial of the United States on Worm Island in NTC San Diego.

THAT part of it was more civilized, no women on ships and visiting ship ladies treated and acting proper... (Stateside anyhow), I know a QM3 who brought a gal on-board and “christened” the Capt’s Chair on the bride...

There were a lot of morale problems back then. Drugs were practically everywhere below decks and officers didn’t even dare go into P-3 or P-4 berthing late at night.

Still, when all’s said and done, those three years on Connie were the most amazing and life changing so far. Wouldn’t it be a tripe to steam into Subic Bay one more time and get ready for a refreshing walk up Magsaysay?

If you think its bad now wait until the openly gay start swishing around a crowded berthing compartment. Remember the old story of the grizzly Bos’n petty officer of the watch passing the word over the 1MC during open house, “Watch you language, we have snatch aboard”.

This was worse than the “Tail Hook” incident.
Nothing to see hear - this is the military under a
Democrat Administration and that makes it different
for the liberal news media.

USS New Orleans LPH-11 1995-1997(Decom Crew) A good ship that deserved better than the crew she had.

I was on the New Orleans with the 3rd Marines in 74. We took it from Hawaii to California. Better quarters then any of the LPD I was on later.
