Pelley: Bob, I wonder how seriously should we take the Cain campaign?
Schieffer: I think it has to be taken very seriously at this point, Scott, and here's why. Think about this: Mitt Romney has been plodding along at about 25 percent in the polls and it's like he's been running most of his life. Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, gets into the race, zooms immediately to the top in the polls, has a couple of stumbles, and goes back down.
But then you take Herman Cain, who has no real campaign staff, has not raised very much money -- some people weren't even sure he was serious about this. He's gotten in, he makes a couple stumbles, and he keeps going up. Somehow or the other, Herman Cain is connecting with a big segment of Republican voters right now and that's why he can no longer be ignored.

The MSM, democrats and some Washington republicans ignored him for weeks and thought that by doing so he would go away...He didn't now they have to debate him on his conservatism. Then they lose..He has been out in the world of business, his parents gave him a good grounding for character building and those that knew him in business have not had a bad word to say about him, he has a sense of humor and does it his own way...That should bring you up to speed on who is ignoring him and why...he is not going away. There was straw poll several weeks ago he won and his name wasn't even mentioned as the winner....the talk was about romney.....

Think how much money a campaign would have to spend to get the kind of broadcast time this one is getting for free.

Well, La Raza Rick’s dwindling (but ever screeching) crowd has been insisting from the beginning that we have to ignore him. Why? Well because, that’s why.

They did this to Reagan in 1976 and 1980. It is endemic and a complete carbon copy...every thing they do and every step they take is predictable and almost out of some kind of Establishment Textbook. (You know, when it comes down to it, they are NOT THAT SMART despite the Ivy degrees and Georgetown parties). It is almost laughable. I am waxing nostalgic now to see their establishment panties in such a twist.
We saw that when you don't give up, though, you win anyways. God Bless Ronald Reagan and his great service to America. Herman Cain will be the NEXT PRESIDENT of our country.

I think a lot of “political experts” really, really missed the importance of the TEA Party movement and the 2010 elections. Not to mention how much of McCain’s support in 2008 was because of Sarah Palin, and how much distaste there is among the rank and file for McCain-style middle-of-the-roaders.
Go Herman!

Actually this goes back a little further, voters pushed Hillary aside and went with an outsider in 2008, then voters threw out the entire congress and filled it with outsiders in 2010, and now in 2012 we will push aside Romney and throw Obama out and replace him with Cain.
These are amazing times.
To: AmericanInTokyo
Sarah, the conservative media, any conservative republican who has been Palinized needs to stand up and defend Cain, and point out what the media is doing with vigor and courage. Especially, Sarah — she’s been through it all. We can no longer stand by and just let this keep on happening. They can’t be allowed to destroy conservative leaders with impunity.
To: TexasFreeper2009
I was looking at it from more of a pure Republican / conservative perspective. That is a bigger picture good point there.

You have touched on something very important. Someone was repeating some of the garbage that FOX has been saying about Cain and my only reply to her was, they are doing to him what they did to Palin.
And what they will continue to do to ALL conservatives if we don’t step up and speak out.
