Yet the agents reportedly lost track of more than 2,000 firearms, ...

That's easy to do when you purposely make no effort at all to track them. At some point these reporters are going to have to face the fact that it has already been established beyond any doubts that this was the case. We have field agents under oath saying that they were begging for permission to interdict those guns and were ordered to stand down. Those depositions aren't going to go away.
