A lack of training. They didn't know about the jet stream. Night drops. They had the same bomb sight the Germans had but didn't know it because it looked differently. They couldn't do it right till the end of the Vite war. That why it was an inside joke (The Air Farce).

This is so interesting! I used to be married to an optical engineer from MIT. He talked about stuff like this. There’s so much about WWII that most people never knew. This is a great thread—thanks for filling in some of the blanks.
