Class war: Obama offers cash-for-votes student loan policy
The Daily Caller ^ | 10/27/2011 | Neil Munro

President Barack Obama’s new student loan policy will force working class Americans to pay the ballooning college costs of middle class Americans, and will also hinder needed reform of the bloated education sector, say critics.

Obama is “shifting the burden of paying for college to all of those Americans who did not graduate from college — the waitresses, construction workers, mechanics — and that should infuriate the taxpayers who worked hard to pay off their loans, who decided to live a modest lifestyle to pay off their loans,” said Lindsey Burke, an analyst at the Heritage Foundation.

Obama’s policy is also widening the class division between working-class Americans and those with college credentials, said Matthew Denhart, a researcher at the Center for College Affordability and Productivity in Washington, D.C.

Do we know as of today...still actually who paid for Mr. Obama´s education. This question has still not be satisfactorily answered. Maybe the people who paid for his education could let loose some of this CHANGE and spare the rest of us from picking up another tab of some stupid degree from a weird school on the sex life of a rat.

What was the percentage of college age voters who attended all his rallies when he first ran? I don’t think college kids get out to vote but love freebies, taking but not giving back.

They already had a ‘free ride ticket. All Obama did was to tweak it.

Max payment is now 10% of DISPOSABLE income versus previous 15%.

Debt obligation now expires after 20 years versus previous 25 years.

I don’t like it, but this is going to prove to be popular and buy him many votes.

I have heard too many technical types complain about coming to work to service a $60,000 student loan while the guy sitting in the next cube is here on an H1B Visa and got his degree paid for by the government in his home country. We are slowly buying into the idea that it’s government’s job to pay for as much education as you can stomach.

Forcing cramdowns on mortgage principal and reregulating bank fees and credit card interest will buy him many more votes.

I may be wrong but didn’t Reagan start free jr college as gov or California? It’s what I was told years ago by a native of that state.

As for buying the 2012 election, it’s how he got there in 2008.

I attended a junior college and a state college in California while Reagan was governor. It wasn’t free but very cheap. I don’t know whether he started it—it may date back earlier than his becoming governor (following the 1966 election).
