I’m glad I grew up poor. I learned to recognize need vs want at an early age.

Tough times are nothing new to me and I’ll fare far better than most in the face of economic disaster.

Me, too. And when you try to explain that to them you just receive a blank stare. Didn’t Debbie Wasserman-Schultz recently say (paraphrase) ‘those young students will be good little Democrats’? And they want Government daycare so they can indoctrinate kids as soon as the kids can talk and listen.

Slings and arrows? Yes, I know not all achievers and/or Conservatives are good. But far more are good than the Democrats and Big Media will admit.

Wait until they graduate and see what is removed from their paychecks. Assuming they graduated with a decent major and don’t become baristas.

I didn't grow up ‘dirt poor’ but we learned very young that if we wanted something we would have to work for it. I started working at 14 selling programs on commission at the State Fair. I bought my own new clothes for school that autumn. In grade school I had 3 dresses. I didn't know you were supposed to have 5 so you didn’t repeat in the same week. Didn't much care either. Ah, the 50’s. A good era.

Good evening.

I’ll fare far better than most in the face of economic disaster.

Imho, the American people have to ask the question: will I survive an economic disaster? Or will I survive a civil war? Or will I survive a hurricane. Or will I survive ___________?

Questions that should be answered by each of us. Now.

It occurred to me today that one needs to be able to “change bearings” with the change in the tide. Success is still a goal but if you don’t adapt to the new reality quickly you lose a lot of ground quickly when the current shifts, maybe even your life. Keep swimming on the old bearing and you simply will never get there.

There are a bunch of FReepers who whine about the rich not paying their share (whatever that means). Pretty disgusting, actually.

I’m the worst kind of poor.

I couldn’t care less that my neighbor has more.

It makes me pretty worthless in the eyes of the democrats.

“Why aspire to be successful when you will just be called greedy and selfish?”

If someone cares whether they will be called greedy and selfish I doubt highly whether they are cut out to be successful...

Americans aren't allowed to enjoy anything..give me a break if an individual needs the permission of the government to enjoy life then they have a serious problem..

Why aspire to be successful when you will just be called greedy and selfish?

And have to fill out endless federal and state forms and jump through endless feedral and state forms

And kiss the butts of endless Marxist bureaucrats

And pay enormous taxes on income, capital gains, and inheritance, and everything else

And deal with a nearly hopeless economy...

Socialism failed in every, single place it’s ever been tried, and has destroyed very nearly as many societies as has war.

But, hey, here in America we’ll do it right!

Ah. But we do enjoy things. We are just supposed to feel sooooo guilty about it. I still enjoy. I also get annoyed if someone tries to make me feel guilty about enjoying. That's the thing. Democrats enjoy trying to take joy from others. It is their raison d’etre.

Don’t know yet. But I am pretty sure he isn’t in the current bevy of Republicans running for the nomination. Hope we find him soon!

Why aspire to be successful when you will just be called greedy and selfish?

It is our civic duty to get people off the counch in their grandmother's basement and get them some exercise so they don't become morbidly obese....

Because it gets the lazy and useless having cartwheeling fits because someone dared do what they would not. Not that they don't get rich complaining about other people doing things by which they prosper.

Besides, I really don't care what they think (if you can call that thinking).
