What in God's name was Israel thinking?
They will regret this move for many years, and it will cost them far, far more than the one soldier they got in exchange.
They should never, ever have negotiated with these terrorists and given murders in exschange for this soldier.

In political and strategic terms, I think Israel’s action here defies any justifiable explanation. The 1000+ enemies released will kill far more israelis. As soon as one is identified in an attack that kills anyone, the political price starts coming home, and will keep coming home for years.
Has there been any rational explanation anywhere of this deal, in a way that explains the israeli government’s thinking?
