Unlike Rush and Levin I was very disappointed by Perry’s speech today. Yes, his plan would be far better than what Obama is doing. However adding a new optional tax, letting government employees out of Social Security while keeping the rest of us trapped, and hoping to balance the federal budget by 2020 are very, very disappointing and definately not conservative ideas.
I understand that whatever a candidate proposes will get minced and watered down by Congress but that is precisely the reason to propose bold and drastic changes, not tinker with the rates and deductions. An optional flat tax is not a flat tax, it’s a 1040EZ that does little to address the inequalities in our tax codes. To be fair I like Perry’s standard deductions a lot better than Herman Cain’s “Empowerment Zones.”
Dick Armey, founder of the grassroots Tea Party affiliated organization FreedomWorks that advocates for lower taxes and smaller governments has a glowing endorsement of the flat tax proposed in Rick Perrys plan.
Additionally, and this seems very important to take note of - Dick Armey reveals that Senator Jim DeMint and Representative Mike Pence are already in the process of crafting legislation to introduce this flat tax to Congress. _______________________________
bully,
Sorry if my wording seemed unclear.
I had tried to get the point across in my words that Dick Armey was only promoting the flat tax and was not referring to the entire economic and entitlement reform package that is involved with the "Cut, Balance, and Grow" Plan.
However, your wording was probably better than mine... that Dick Armey took this opportunity to endorse the flat tax (and not surprising since FreedomWorks advocates for flat tax reform anyway).
Sorry if I was unclear.
Cain, Gingrich, Huntsman, Paul, Perry, Romney, Santorum.
Snow White and the seven dwarfs. Wake me in 2016 if I happen to live that long.
Not an electable conservative in the bunch.
I like the Perry tax plan.
Still don’t like Perry though!!!
Yep, Perry is trying to out Santa-Claus the others. Those at the top cut a big cut, those 50% that pay no taxes still pay none. And he offers no specific cuts to pay for it. It's Christmas: "My plan is better than yours"
History shows us what happens to tax cuts that are not scored as revenue neutral or increase by the CBO per Senate rules, "Compassionate conservatism"
Mark Levin: Mark Levin: Rick Perry has come up with one hell of a proposal -- gives breakdown.
Rick Perry's new Iowa Ad: Creating Jobs - OPENING AMERICAN OIL AND GAS FIELDS
” What we need is bold, and the Perry plan is not bold.
It is weaselly.”
Correct.
” Yep, Perry is trying to out Santa-Claus the others. Those at the top cut a big cut, those 50% that pay no taxes still pay none. And he offers no specific cuts to pay for it. It’s Christmas:”
EXACTLY
Anyone of these is better then that arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave
This is where the campaign(s) depart from any semblance of seriousness and move into the contest of Santa's Claus's.
Remember, when Santa gave you that present no-one had to pay for it.
I like Cain's plan (over the other candidates) because it introduces a tax that illegals have to pay. We know Perry doesn't want that.
English Word: Santa Claus
Spanish Word: papá noel
” I like Cain’s plan (over the other candidates) because it introduces a tax that illegals have to pay. We know Perry doesn’t want that.”
Samr here.
Was my sarcasm too subtle?
Yes! And my sarcasm detector was too dull!
Too much “what should be sarcasm but is, yikes, SERIES” going around FR these days.
Thanks for clarifying (and being nice about to boot! Bonus!)
We need a return of generous use of the /s button.
