>> Three and a half billion people later, he is more pessimistic than ever, <<
Then he’s a liar, because he predicted the Earth would be so consumed in famine and war, that the Earth would be depopulated and largely uninhabitable by the mid 1970s.
Paul Ehrlich makes Harold Camping seem responsible and scientific.
Funny how there are many here in this thread even who think that they are prepared for the absolute reign of terrors and horrors that are to come in the TEOTWAWKI. It does not matter how much you have stocked up or how much ammunition that you have the TEOTWAWKI will consume all and engulf you in a sea of mega-destruction and you will get hit with waves and waves of absolute terror and horror.
Myself I have burrowed down deep into the earth and created an elaborate tunnel system to escape the coming TEOTWAWKI. The TEOTWAWKI will be 99% a surface phenomena where hordes of mindless zombie like foollowers of the Population Bomb book will rampage and feed upon those who are left behind.
While it may be half the battle won by stocking up on ammunition and other supplies I suggest you all start digging now. Dig day and night and dont stop until you are safe.
Bump.
This same fool also predicted in the 1970’s that the entire population of India will have starved to death by 1985.
The movie Demographic winter took Ehrlich to task for his missed predictions of the population bomb.
Demographic Winter is a good documentary that lays out the truth of the declining population.

75% of all statistics are made up of 50% fabrication.
Crazy Eddie Cycles (with apologies to Larry Niven)?
And I feel fine.
Yay! 10% chance we will be all right.
We better wake up and start the slaughter before it gets outa hand. Either that or expect the same mercy Kaddafy got in his last minutes.
The next two billion people, should we get them, will put more and more pressure on environmental systems that are struggling today, he said. Each individual has to have food from more marginal land materials from poorer ores, were going to use more oil so we have to drill deeper: were past the point of diminishing returns.
Didn't I just hear that the population just passed 7 billion?
If you read the words of Paul Elrich the worst thing to give humanity in their opinion is empowering technology.
Paul Elrich spews a lot of stuff that is most certainly evil or will result in evil towards humanity.
He is cut from the same cloth that would want humanity to stay on this rock till the sun explodes because they view Humanity as a plague on the cosmos.
[tinfoil happy time]
From the stuff people like this spew it almost makes one think that there ARE aliens here and they are influencing or controlling people like Elrich to keep humanity on the planet so they can dominate the space in our neighborhood.
And if not aliens, maybe demons of a sort.
[tinfoil happy time]
I estimate that there is 100% chance of Erlich being wrong since EVERY other prediction he has made has been wrong.
There’s no such thing as “global civilization”.
There’s Europe and her progeny, and a bunch of savages, barbarians, and Chinamen.
This guy or people like him don’t need to be right; they just need to convince enough powerful people in government that they are right.
I pray I am wrong, but I firmly believe that there is at least a plan to unleash a biological agent that would kill 90 percent of the worlds population IF the powers to be were convinced it were necessary to set things in balance.
I am under no illusions on who would be innoculated. GS 10s and above...
Wow, the solution isn't more world socialism this time but to become a conservative!
A big war wouldn't entirely be bad for America. We would temporarily gut welfare spending and invest heavily in robotics. When the war is over anyone with a backyard can have a robot tended micro-farm.
If civilization collapses it will be from the usual causes.
War, pestilence, disease, starvation.
Most of these have nothing to do with population density and everything to do with governments.
