Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice. What happened to that GOP? It got its ass handed to it in the election: 61.1% of the popular vote went to the Democrats, the highest won by a candidate since 1820. The GOP did win 6 States...

The correct quote from Barry Goldwater at the 1964 Republican Convention was:
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue." Although that quote was probably not original, it consists of what IMO are the most eloquent two succinct sentences ever uttered by an American political figure, when taken in its plain meaning.
Unfortunately for Goldwater, the 'Rats twisted that speech and tarred Goldwater with tag of "extremist," never bothering to consider the modifier "in the defense of liberty." Of course, had they talked about "extremism in the defense of liberty," they would have to consider some notables in their own party, like Roosevelt and Truman and Wilson, to be as guilty or more so than Goldwater.

>>> Extremism in the pursuit of liberty is no vice.
Said one of the biggest losers in modern politics.
>>> I wonder if he is in the beginning stages of dementia ?
Any dementia doesn’t appear to be all on his side.
