Rick Perry brings in Joe Allbaugh to run campaign
Dallas Morning News ^ | 24 Oct 2011 | Wayne Slater

Looking to shake up his ailing campaign Rick Perry has brought on the man who oversaw George W. Bush's presidential race a decade ago. Joe Allbaugh will become a senior adviser to the Perry campaign - effectively putting him in charge. Long-time Perry political consultant Dave Carney will stay on, but a source familiar with the reshuffling says Allbaugh will be in charge.

Perry personally called Allbaugh. Word is that he made the call after First Lady Anita Perry expressed unhappiness with the way the campaign has operated and appealed to him to make changes.

Excerpted since it's one of those sites. If you're shocked I'm saying something nice about Perry, don't be. It's a very savvy move by Perry and I can respect that. He's also brought in Tony Fabrizio, Neslon Warfield, and Curt Anderson. There does come a point at which the folks who helped get you elected in Texas might not be doing too good of a job on a national level. I think we'll see a stronger Rick Perry emerge. I may not be a Perry fan, but things will get interesting.

Allbaugh will Get Things Done, which is what Perry needs. From what I've heard from somebody I know with ties to his campaign, and from what this article and others are claiming, Dave Carney is being demoted, even if it's not in name, and that Allbaugh will have the power to hire and fire as he pleases.

That's certainly not going to impress some. He should have seen the problems himself.

Hey! What about Karl Rove? Oh, right. Karl's working for Romney.

Agreed. Perry was too dense to see the ship was sinking, he needed his wife to twist his arm?

Whose running - Perry or Anita?

It just make me wonder do we just get who the “experts” think we want as POTUS or the real deal?

Seems like one big masquerade to me.

These are good moves. The campaign will start to be fun very, very soon.

LOL, if things were “dire” those men would NOT be signing onto the campaign.

Wow!!!!!! Just Wow!!!!! I cannot believe that!!!!!!!! Words fail.......I am so speechless over this because of the disbelief that this sentence could even be true. For a minute second I feel sorry for him.....he is certainly in a pathetic state right now.

It is over for him. He has 72 days to get his act together something he already should have been. His wife is more impressive than he is. I don’t think he is serious at all. I am thrilled by that but for his dreamy supporters I guess this is good.

PERRY CAMPAIGN SHAKE UP.....

Weeks overdue! Hope it’s not too late. Weeks! I have been raging against the Perry campaign, so if little ole me saw flounder written all over it, then certainly Anita Perry could find reason to explode. I was. The campaign never lived up to Rick Perry the man, no way, no how.

More like Allbaugh can $500k in about five months, which is about all Perry has left.

So he’s bringing in Bush’s head guy?

If you're mocking it because of Bush, might as well bring up that Allbaugh worked on Giuliani's campaign as a national security adviser.

Bush won in 2000, and he even beat McCain on the way there, and McCain was not exactly easy to beat. Allbaugh produced results. Rove gets the credit, but Allbaugh was the guy who made sure the t's were crossed and the i's were dotted. It's the smartest thing Perry has done lately.
