Not having to prove to the government at penalty of imprisonment what i do or don’t make, spend or have, is the best reason to support any kind of sales tax. I would probably pay more money but the simplicity, predictability and honesty of it are appealing.
Not to mention that it would turn us into a nation of taxpayers (contributors) rather than what we have now, a nation divided between takers with their hand out, demanding ever-more free stuff, and producers.
And tourists would contribute, too!
