When I first saw “Broderick,” I thought it was that old tough guy cop from the 1950s in “Highway Patrol,” Broderick Crawford.

I had the same take! Who can forget the rather rotund Broderick Crawford waddling out of his Dodge patrol car to apprehend the scofflaw du jour?
