Looks like Port Authority Transit is going to be privatized, LOL!
It's been brewing for awhile but in today's Post Gazette an article points out that the government run tranist authority is facing (another) 63 million dollar budget shortfall. Gov Corbett and the legislature are on record as saying no increase in state funding.
At least one company is interested in taking over, they already run the taxi service as well as systems in several other cities. Of course the union is saying there will be a huge fight.
This could get interesting!
GOOD! Privatize! Will the unionistas have to get in line and apply for jobs like every one else? Will this mean no union? If so - good!
All in all it looks like a death blow to the transit union.They priced themselves out of jobs and apparently even the county is beginning to realize it.
Of course we are still left with that tunnel under the river that cost a fortune.

I love this Droid tablet. Been in bed since 7 and because of the way it folds it can sit on my chest and I can still see and type.
The virtual keyboard is very easy to use.
I missed Q&R talking about Cain. He was taking a lot of flak over the weekend, but seems to have come out stronger. He has raised a lot of money. He is probably conservatives best hope.

It will spur a mass exodus of employers out of downtown and into office parks on the periphery where their employees can actually park. Aside from outfits like UPMC that are heavily reliant on government there won’t be any office jobs downtown within a few years.
Will also be very interesting when Rich Fitzgerald wins the presidency of County Council. He is as firmly in the pockets of the union crowd as any politician I’ve seen in a long time. But he will have no money to help them.
I have little faith in Raja. He has a good program, but too many of the yinzers around here are gonna think since he’s Indian he personally spends his days shipping their jobs overseas. Those ads are gonna destroy him I think.
