What a weird, half-informed article. It totally ignores the strong socialist stripe in early Oklahoma politics, the 1980’s county commissioner scandal, and the persisting perception among both parties that government exists to employ people and reward donors. They mouth moral conservatism but have done little to rein in the size and scope of government.

The state votes “R” on a national level but has a deeply entrenched big government streak that the R’s, in spite of controlling the legislature and Governor’s office, have yet to rectify. It must rectify these things to compete against Texas for jobs.
