I watched an announcement about this on T.V. this morning. My first thought was Ruh Roh! My second was, “what is the Federal Gov. up to now?
Keep your powder dry!
So where does the “cut off” claim fit in?
Coordinated regional notification of emergencies via voluntary broadcaster compliance is not unreasonable, including at national level.
Mandated compliance is up for reasonable discussion.
“Cut off”, as if the feds have a master switch, is hysterical delusion.
Pointless really. I know my home tv/radio aren’t on at that hour. Just another control mechanism. Anyone know where I can get a HAM radio set up? I’m shutting my tv service off as well. Sick of these nazi’s
I’ve never heard the EAS (Emergency Alert System) which replaced the EBS (Emergency Broadcast System) ever “go off” for real. Of course it did not on 9/11. It’s supposed to go off for hazardous spills, severe weather, abductions supposedly ?
I’ve never heard of it going off for real in the NY-NJ Metro area ever and all these things have happened over the years. The moment the power goes out it’s useless, and the power goes out frequently in bad weather.
But it reliably annoys TV watchers late at night.
Thanks Feral government - what an expensive non-solution very poorly thought out !
“national Emergency Alert System”
Take your tinfoil hats off. It (Emergency Alert System) is a public service, just like when there’s Tornadoes, Hurricanes or Earthquakes. In such occasions getting important information to the public is more important than, and a great pubic importance compared to, being able to watch “Hollyweird Housewives”.
That is also the day that the analysts are saying the euro is done.
Is that the day the TOTUS takes over the country?

They already test the Emergency Broadcast System. It comes right across the top of the screen during a show. The initial beep scares the crap out of me.
