Simone fills in for Imus. I like his work but the Imus fill-in is just to introduce recordings of past Imus nonsense. What's the point of having a fill-in? Just do the news, business, and sports live then turn on the playback machine.
Yeah, I did not hear an announcement but Levin is definitely an "encore," Hank Williams, Jr will be a guest concerning the controversy.

He was on locally. He got his national exposure by filling in for Rush. Highly educated and knowledgeable.
Lewis was replaced locally (Sacramento) by this new guy Andy Dean

Seems to me that when Levin was off he always had a fill-in but lately he does the memorex monotony also.
I recall fill in hosts but Beck has a staff that shares on-air quips with him and they are capable of "carrying on" when he is not there.
