Thanks for the tip, but I wouldn't put it past the Democrats to find a way to change the rules if it turns out it works against them. They've done it before.

However, if a state decides to ignore their own voters and choose a different candidate for any reason, I think it would be quickly challenged under the Voting Rights Act. A

Only if the candidate picked is other than the one that black voters mostly voted for. The Voting Rights Act only works in one direction. If white voters have their rights violated, then it is of no interest. At least, that was the opinion of Holder's DoJ in the Philly Black Panther intimidation case.
