Could the sudden withdrawal serve three purposes:

1. Shore up Obama’s socialist base (yeah look what I did).

2. Force the abandonment of resources for Muslim terrorist to get their hands on (Sadr etc.).

3. Empower Iran to carry on its goal of the return of the Mahdi, and the establishment of the caliph.
