Romney: It's "his turn"? Why?

Not a single vote has been cast in the Republican presidential primary. Not one. Yet, the Republican Party establishment has decided for us that Mitt Romney is the 2012 anointed one. Why? Well, he's a veteran campaigner, or he has become a household name. Or some variation that leads to the bottom-line rationale that "It's his turn."

The GOP machine tries mightily to formulate the parameters of intra-party debate so that candidates gather in a virtual cartoon-depicted assembly line, each awaiting "his [or her] turn."

Let's give the GOP veteran operators their due. These are folks who have done much of the hard work to keep the party competitive and hopefully victorious more often than not. They have also raised a lot of money over the years.

The issue is not whether most of them sincerely pursue what they see as best for the party and the country. The problem comes with the track record of their maneuvering. Add to that the question of to what extent they are willing to cut too many corners on principle to achieve worthy goals, with disastrous results in electoral and/or policy issues.

2012 outlook

Americans sense very keenly that their beloved nation is in deep trouble. Is it not understandable therefore that we would seek the very best person to oust the very worst president the voters — many now feeling buyers' remorse — elected to lead a truly great and decent nation?

Why then, a head-scratching visitor from Mars would want to know, are we — again — indicating a willingness to nominate a candidate for the opposing party nomination because it's "his turn?"

Not for the first time....

The Republican Party has been stuck in this rut for decades. Some examples:

It does not bode well for Mitt that Cain is getting surprisingly little criticism for being “extremist” in spite of his solid conservative philosophical credentials. Some might think this is the race card in play, but that card has two sides and it feels wonderful to show Obama the back side of the card.

Have you seen the DNC attack ad posted Thursday by Priorities USA Action, the Obama-supporting Super PAC against the Mittster, yet?

TPM2012 The ‘Romney Rule’ Attack Makes Its Official Debut (VIDEO) The ‘Romney Rule’ Attack Makes Its Official Debut (VIDEO) share Evan McMorris-Santoro October 20, 2011, 2:41 PM 20170 133 Earlier this month, Paul Begala outlined for us a new attack line pro-Obama campaign folks were planning to use against Mitt Romney. SLIDESHOW: Meet The 2012 GOPers: Mitt Romney And today, the Romney Rule made its official debut. Here’s the web video, posted Thursday by Priorities USA Action, the Obama-supporting Super PAC Begala advises:

Priorities USA’s Bill Burton explains:

“The Romney Rule is simple, Mitt Romney thinks that millionaires like him are entitled to pay a lower rate of taxes than teachers, cops and construction workers. And while Romney promises to keep taxes low for him and his millionaire friends, he supports raising taxes by $1,000 on hardworking Americans,” said he said in a statement. “We tried Romney’s economic vision with President George W. Bush and it failed miserably for the middle class. We simply can’t afford to try it again.”

We don’t want our last nominee (Juan McLame) or some guy who couldn’t even beat him in the primaries, like Milt Romney. That leaves Sarah Palin, our VP nominee last time.

It’s the Republican primary...why can’t we Republicans nominate a true Republican as our candidate?

Romney is not a true Republican.
Mitt is just an old school Democrat, forced out of his party mainstream by the extreme leftists.

I say we Republicans concentrate on vetting Cain.

The establishment knows Mittens will lose and they believe they can push him on to the Tea Party, so when he does lose they can then push Jeb Bush on us in 2016 and boast that only a Liberal Republican and big spender can when.

the sad thing is dole repressed much of his humorous personality in the 96 campaign. I think this was a major error on his part, based on whatever advice he had on the matter. He can/could be a very humorous man.

As was evidenced by the Viagra commercial after his disastrous campaign. Had he shown even a tenth of the humor he demonstrated in that one commercial in said campaign, it could well have ended quite differently...

More than 75% of Republican voters do not want Romney.

That will not change to his benefit.

I have read Romney’s father was not born here. Did his father have the same citizenship problems Obama’s father had or was he like McCain’s father?

Either way, this might be one of the reasons Obama wants him to run much like McCain. Family birth problems which would shall we say moot a certain problem for Obama like the set up that was McCain.

I am tired of these sickos deciding for the people who their candidate is.

I am so sick of hearing that Romney is the most conservative electable candidate and all he needs is someone like Santorum as VP to balance him out. I want to hurl each and every time someone tries to convince me that supporting Cain will only result in 0bama winning again and that I am part of the problem!

Romney is SO involved in dirty tricks using others
as the backstabber HIDES behind skirts and his
Mormon Card, that perhaps he should be called,
“The Meadow Mountain Backstabbing Candidate”.

That’s more or less what the Republican establishment was saying when Bob Dole won the nomination. It’s his turn. Look how well that worked.
