If that’s the best they can do, then I would say that it’s the WaPo that is misrepresenting the facts. Castro began his revolution in 1952. The mere fact that he did not actually overthrow Batista until 1959 does not mean that the Rubios were not motivated to leave by the rise of Castro.

True, but it also greatly embellishes the story, which is made to sound like his parents fled with mass chaos and destruction all around them.
