Wounded, weakened and covered in blood and dirt, the fallen dictator was dragged from a truck to meet his unceremonious end. In front of a baying mob, Muammar Gaddafi, the former Libyan leader, begged the revolutionary soldiers for his life. Becoming increasingly desperate, he asked one rebel fighter: 'What did I ever do to you?' But his pleas fell on deaf ears. The deposed despot was mercilessly shot to death, his spilt blood heralding the end of a terrible 42-year epoch in Libyan history.

Thats why, after careful consideration, I decided not to become a dictator. It never works out in the long run (except in North Korea).
You gotta be kidding.
Iraq is no more likely to be a stable country than Libya - and vice-versa.
Both are a bit of a crap shoot.
The ONLY diff is that we didn't have to bankrupt this country (further) and suffer 37,000 dead and wounded American soldiers (so far in Iraq) to get rid of Mommo...
And the 1986 Berlin discotheque bombing. Libya was blamed for the bombing after telex messages had been intercepted from Libya to the Libyan East Berlin embassy congratulating them on a job well done. Reagan retaliated by ordering airstrikes against Tripoli and city of Benghazi (Operation El Dorado Canyon).
They already have demonstrated their hostility by refusing to return the Lockerbie Bomber in exchange for NATO help.
Thus always taken out by the revolutionary tyrant wannabes.
“The ONLY diff is that we didn’t have to bankrupt this country (further) and suffer 37,000 dead and wounded American soldiers (so far in Iraq) to get rid of Mommo...”
Actually, those costs weren’t to get rid of Saddam. Like Mommo, that happened cheap.
The cost and loss of life was all spent trying to manage the “peace.”
Something the people celebrating about Libya (hopefully NOT us) will soon find out.
ZERO going to the funeral? After all, Gadaffi did endorse him in '08. What are buddies for?
Great. How's that working for us?
Fine now.
Why not, zero has already announced his intention to pull out. No sense wasting ammo on Americans since they'll be gone soon. And as soon as we leave, the ensuing conflagration will make it obvious that it was all for naught. As will what happens next in Libya.
I just hope I can keep from discharging a full clip into the TV set when that idiot zero announces, “for humanitarian reasons, we must sent troops to Libya to help the brave Libyans achieve the stable peace they deserve.”
May they be reunited soon (and in the same manner).
May they be reunited soon (and in the same manner).
Libya whose economy has no foreign debt, was not amoung the African countries whose economy depends on foreign aid. But now that NATO has dropped hundreds of thousands of bombs on libya and ruined their economy they will be getting so called foreign aid from NATO which actualy is mostly from America. We should just concentrate on getting our own oil and stay out of the Middle East and Africa.
I have no particular dog in this fight nor do I think my country ought to. But if, by this, every tyrant in power sleeps a little less easily I can't say nothing good has come of it. I mean every tyrant everywhere. Draw your own conclusions.
The more things change, the more they remain the same. The Arab Spring will turn out to be our Arab nightmare as more and more Arab countries are taken over by Muslim Fundamentalists who have no respect for life and use Islam as a way to enforce their rule. Even Turkey, the once secular country now is being turned into an Islamic state by its Prime Minister Erdogan. Ataturk must be rolling over in his grave. All is bad news for the U.S.
Actual in-depth news reporting?
We should probably try to encourage western values.
I agree with both sentiments.
You can lead a horse to water...
Yeah, but Obama isn’t even trying to lead the horse to water. He’s perfectly fine with Islamists kneecapping the dictators and implementing Sharia.
Obama really shouldn’t be celebrating the manner in which Momo was whacked.
What’s the grisly picture quota of legitimate “in-depth” reporting? Where do you cross the line from serious reporting (used to be “All the news that’s fit to print”) into enjoyment of blood and guts? This kind of thing like the sex stuff the UK newspapers are noted for, appeals to the lowest common denominator in people, IMO.
