Thanks, dear RedMDer. I’m on my second and final Bud Light of the morning...lol. DrO made sure to have those two iced for me. Doctor’s orders ya know! He’s in bad shape, too. He didn’t sleep very well. He got up at 5:00AM to sit with Jack in the red room where it was cold; -— like a wake for Jack. We already had his sheepskin, lamb’s wool burial sack to put in his coffin. Geeez, I know this all sounds crazy for a dog, but he was a special dog.
I think it goes into effect on November 1, so I think my idiot series Project Runway will be over by then, but it’s my Thurday night “prime time” viewing on the Lifetime cable channel...lol... and DrO watches it with me!
I don’t think it sounds crazy. I had an Angora cat that my Dad got for me when I was 4. She died when I was 21. She had a coffin that Grandpa made and a satin baby blanket and pillow in it. She sat in state on the table while we said “Goodbye” and took turns digging her grave. There’s nothing crazy about grief and honoring love and companionship.
When we had TV my daughter and I watched the fashion shows. Some of those clothes were a hoot! One show had what looked like bed pillows strapped to the models backs. We laughed all the way through that one. Sometimes, someone would have absolutely lovely things. We loved the bridal fashion shows.
Doesn't make it any less heartbreaking, I know, but I know that the miraculous healing of time and God's mercy will bring you and Dr.O comfort through your hurt and tears now, with happy memories of all the years, in time and for always.
He's now crossed the Rainbow Bridge to glorious joy, awaiting the years til you meet again. Hope you're getting lots of hugs today .. mine are being virtually being sent to you, dear O, all day .. along with my love, sorrow for your heartache and always prayers.
Good! Well, we felt better about it all. Andre’ dug his grave 5’ deep, too! All the way down to the brick that extends out from the house’s foundation into the yard. It’s also 4’ wide and he’s encased nicely and his coffin is wrapped in my Charger’s tarp and sealed with duct tape. Now you know all the details. LOL.
Then you know he’s safe and won’t be disturbed. That’s a good thing.
That doesn’t sound crazy at all. We’ve done the same type of things for our pets.
Hubby had been buying cheap after shave. I used to buy it for him but he gets his own now and won't buy nice stuff. I started complaining cause the stuff stinks. lol So he bought Kanon a month or so ago. Well every morning I sniff and make faces. He'd say "It's the last of the stuff that you don't like so I used it up." He came down this morning and I sniffed and made a face. He said "It's the Kanon!". I told him my sniffer must be going. LOL I was not appreciated this morning!
LOL!!!
Sweetest you, STAR! I wish I could put that in with him! Tears are flowing again. Massively. St. Francis Statue sits atop his grave. The same St. Francis Statue that we bought for him and Taylor when he was just an 8 week old pup and she was just a little gril not yet 5 years old. It’s 4’ high and he peed on it many times. It’s the most beautiful statue and he loved it, Taylor loves it, we love it and everyone who sees it, always remarks about it. It’s sun drenched now and looks even more beautiful with age. We moved it with us from San Diego and managed to find and buy another that we have in the front yard beside the front porch, but the one on his grave, is Jack’s St. Francis Statue.
Thank you from my broken heart but healing heart, (((((STAR))))) Your prayers worked. He went to St. Francis, clean, happy, and in such merciful peace: sleeping next to me on my pillow. Right where he wanted to be.
He just went upstairs for his nap, but before he did, he told me that he bought a 12 pack! He knows me very well, and he’s always prepared. He also said, that he has plenty of tranquilizers for me...LOL.
Hey, the combo of beer and Valuim? Whoopie!
I have some Xanax of my own, from my own doctor. Geeez.
As far as mourning pets, my wife and I had a half Lab-half Rottweiler (*Cheetah* was her name because she was very fast) and my wife still puts flowers at her grave every now and then (It has been 10 years since she passed).
As with your Jack, she was that special, once in a lifetime, pet to us.
Right, aother animals can’t get to him. Not through a metal container/coffin.
I’m so sorry.
Our greyhound is buried here, in the woods. It's such a comfort to know she's there, in this place that she loved so much.
