"...You and other Perry supporters are making some of the most absurd arguments I've ever seen on FR,,,"

Talk to me a bit about some of the "most absurd arguments" I've made.

Not just ones you personally disagree with...but absurd arguments.

I'm interested in when I've been absurd.

Or maybe, just maybe...you're one of the folks who tend to throw hand grenades at folks who hold different opinions than you personally hold.

I don't think you'll be able to find that true of me.

But have at it...

It's absurd to equate Cain's political contributions while a businessman to Perry's decisions about which political party to be a member of.

It's absurd to equate Reagan's switch to the Republican party in 1960 to Perry's switch around 1990. The times and issues and political landscape were dramatically different.

It's absurd to pretend that Perry has been tough on illegal immigration when he wouldn't even support state laws to enforce laws the Feds won't enforce. Nothing about his record suggests he would enforce the law, or the border, or at the employer level. He just looks for reasons to not do something: no new state law in Texas, no border fence, no use of E-Verify, etc. His record on this issue just promises more GWB and John McCain, more ruses and dodges to avoid enforcing the law.

And we can't build a border fence because it seems most of the cattle in Texas drink directly from the Rio Grande. I've asked from how far north cattle come to the river to drink, but can't get an answer. Apparently, some must be coming from miles and miles that river is so critical to the cattle in south Texas, and is the only source of water for cattle anywhere near the border.

It's absurd for Perry and his supporters to act like hiring a lawn care service that had illegal alien workers says anything about another candidate's stance on illegals. Many Americans patronize firms that hire illegals. It can't be avoided if a person purchases and uses food, and many other products.

It's absurd to pretend that Perry is more than marginally responsible for Texas economy and job growth. The seeds of that go back to Spindletop and wealth creation based on oil and other industries that started before Perry was even born. Texas has had resources most states don't have. The only policy I've seen noted to have happened while he was governor is tort reform. He's not responsible for the absence of a state income tax or many other aspects of Texas' economy and state finances.

Actually, most of the Perry campaign has been about claiming credit for something in Texas, and he knows how to create jobs, with little detail about what he'd do as president. And in each of the last two debates we've gotten these "I'm working on a plan" statements about something to be released later.

That's just a partial list. And I was not against Perry until I started learning more about his years as governor and others aspects of his political history. And many agree with me and, of course, the Perry supporters don't. But, as I said, they do make some absurd claims about his record and some of his past actions, or inactions.

But I've got to get away from the computer for a time.
