It's absurd to equate Cain's political contributions while a businessman to Perry's decisions about which political party to be a member of.

It's absurd to equate Reagan's switch to the Republican party in 1960 to Perry's switch around 1990. The times and issues and political landscape were dramatically different.

It's absurd to pretend that Perry has been tough on illegal immigration when he wouldn't even support state laws to enforce laws the Feds won't enforce. Nothing about his record suggests he would enforce the law, or the border, or at the employer level. He just looks for reasons to not do something: no new state law in Texas, no border fence, no use of E-Verify, etc. His record on this issue just promises more GWB and John McCain, more ruses and dodges to avoid enforcing the law.

And we can't build a border fence because it seems most of the cattle in Texas drink directly from the Rio Grande. I've asked from how far north cattle come to the river to drink, but can't get an answer. Apparently, some must be coming from miles and miles that river is so critical to the cattle in south Texas, and is the only source of water for cattle anywhere near the border.

It's absurd for Perry and his supporters to act like hiring a lawn care service that had illegal alien workers says anything about another candidate's stance on illegals. Many Americans patronize firms that hire illegals. It can't be avoided if a person purchases and uses food, and many other products.

It's absurd to pretend that Perry is more than marginally responsible for Texas economy and job growth. The seeds of that go back to Spindletop and wealth creation based on oil and other industries that started before Perry was even born. Texas has had resources most states don't have. The only policy I've seen noted to have happened while he was governor is tort reform. He's not responsible for the absence of a state income tax or many other aspects of Texas' economy and state finances.

Actually, most of the Perry campaign has been about claiming credit for something in Texas, and he knows how to create jobs, with little detail about what he'd do as president. And in each of the last two debates we've gotten these "I'm working on a plan" statements about something to be released later.

That's just a partial list. And I was not against Perry until I started learning more about his years as governor and others aspects of his political history. And many agree with me and, of course, the Perry supporters don't. But, as I said, they do make some absurd claims about his record and some of his past actions, or inactions.

But I've got to get away from the computer for a time.

I asked what absurd comments I’d made, since you accused me of them.

And you responded with comments that not only didn’t answer that very simple and direct inquiry, but instead demonstrated one or more of the following faults:

1. Ignorance;
2. An inability to do any research on your own, leading to a fearful tendency to believe whatever you’re told or what you read without any critical thinking behind it;
3. Imbecility...or a lack of comprehension of that which you hear or read;
4. Gross partisanship; in which truth or facts don’t matter...only vitriol, falsehoods, misrepresentations and hyperbole;
5. The inability to read and answer direct questions regarding your own posits;
6. An absolute disregard for your own reputation on FreeRepublic regarding fairness, honesty, civility and intellectual curiosity.

No matter which of the above you possess, in whatever combination, I pity you.

And I truly hope that this affliction only affects you here or on other online forums.

Because you really can’t go through life effectively this way.

It would truly be...absurd.

I think Cain’s picking of Romney for VP will hurt him. For one thing Romney has seriously aliented Cain’s base—conservatives. For another thing Romney will not help Cain get votes in New England. The people there are too brain dead and propagandized to do anything but march to the slaughter house.

IMHO Cain will probably pick a veep who will attract votes and be foreign policy strong. He’s from the South so I think he’ll pick someone from Mid or South West. Just sayin.....

This is a great anti-Romney ad! Makes him look evil, dark dishonest and in bed with Obama.

If I was going to run ads...I would DEFINITELY hire this agency!

With all these hypocrisy charges, Perry is really setting himself up to shot down in grand style. He has many statements in his past concerning illegal aliens and border security that will make him look extremely hypocritical to most Republican voters. Someone will put those clips together eventually, including the statement that folks who disagree with his in-state tuition for illegals have no heart.

If Romney had any common sense, when Perry brought up the lawn company, Romney would have brought up Perry's biggest and richest donor helping to kill off the sanctuary cities legislation in the last Texas legislative session earlier this year. He would have also brought up Perry campaigning for a guest worker program, his support of Rudy Giuliani in 2008, and he would have brought up Perry addressing La Raza's national conference last year. Those are three things that could be quickly summed up in a short soundbite and they would have put Perry on the defensive. I was laughing pretty hard during that exchange because I just kept thinking that Perry left himself completely wide open and Romney is going to nail him. But Romney showed that he's about as quick on his feet in a debate as Perry is.

Both Perry and Romney have albatrosses from the past around their necks on issues critical to many Republican voters.

I think those albatrosses have tripped Perry up hard - people point to his supporting the Texas Dream Act in one of the debates and the "heartless" comment as the point at which his campaign started downhill, but I think it was going to head that way anyways, as more people get to know Perry and read up on him. The Perrywinkles kept telling everybody that Perry will go up in polls as more people get to know him, but the exact opposite is playing out.

Romney on the other hand, the folks who support him already know who and what he is and they will support him come Hell or high water. You take the folks who supported him in 2008, add in a liberal helping of McCain fans, and that's Romney's 20-25% that he has been consistently pulling. The RINOs and Mormons ain't going to desert Romney no matter what.
