Some fascinating survey data from Democratic pollster Douglas Schoen:
On Oct. 10 and 11, Arielle Alter Confino, a senior researcher at my polling firm, interviewed nearly 200 protesters in New York's Zuccotti Park. Our findings probably represent the first systematic random sample of Occupy Wall Street opinion. Our research shows clearly that the movement doesn't represent unemployed America and is not ideologically diverse. Rather, it comprises an unrepresentative segment of the electorate that believes in radical redistribution of wealth, civil disobedience and, in some instances, violence. Half (52%) have participated in a political movement before, virtually all (98%) say they would support civil disobedience to achieve their goals, and nearly one-third (31%) would support violence to advance their agenda.
The vast majority of demonstrators are actually employed, and the proportion of protesters unemployed (15%) is within single digits of the national unemployment rate (9.1%).
An overwhelming majority of demonstrators supported Barack Obama in 2008. Now 51% disapprove of the president while 44% approve, and only 48% say they will vote to re-elect him in 2012, while at least a quarter won't vote.
Fewer than one in three (32%) call themselves Democrats, while roughly the same proportion (33%) say they aren't represented by any political party.
What binds a large majority of the protesters togetherregardless of age, socioeconomic status or educationis a deep commitment to left-wing policies: opposition to free-market capitalism and support for radical redistribution of wealth, intense regulation of the private sector, and protectionist policies to keep American jobs from going overseas.
Sixty-five percent say that government has a moral responsibility to guarantee all citizens access to affordable health care, a college education, and a secure retirementno matter the cost. By a large margin (77%-22%), they support raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans, but 58% oppose raising...

What percent are mental?
I think that is a more relevant poll.
I'd like to see that data.
They better get to work so I can get my free stuff...
I would guess the percentage of protesters there for the free food and grass is at 100%. These children have no idea what they are talking about.
The Tea Party is more anti-Wall Street than the communist OWS zombies.
Gee, Jerry Doyle said, just tonight, that they’re just like Tea Partiers. Truly don’t know why I listen to him.
My advice to anyone who supports OWS, TINSTAAFL, there is no such thing as a free lunch. And for those who don’t get it, BOHICA, bend over, here it comes again.
Is that a trick question?
:-P
And pie! I didn't my pie did you?
Bull crapola.
After a short black out in the Southwest, we local folks learned and decided we are going to defend our livelihoods and our families and properties like never before. I actually had a few guys come to my house to try and take my hand crank radio. My buddy next to me pull out his Glock and they went away. But that's how quick civilization can deteriote.
Make note local Police, Sheriffs, State Police, and Homeland Security. It's already been decided. We know you guys will be scrambling around to deal with all the rioting looting f*cks, and wish you the best. But if they come our way...
We will be forming citizen protective militias to protect our families while you're busy or overwhelmed. Once they get through with their inner city looting, they will be heading towards us, if the emergency lasts long enough. It will be the same as the Koreans on top their stores during the Rodney King riots when the police were pulled back and made impotent.
I KNOW many of my neighbors and we have a plan. It will be cut off our cul-de-sac street and shoot to kill anyone who tries to invade/pass without permission. We have the 2nd Amendment right to protect ourselves and families while you are busy elsewhere. Charge us later after killing those f*cks.
If things get to that point, we suggest you go home and protect your families. If you don't, we will. You're welcome. This is not idle threats. If they come, they get a fight. You LEO's may not be there, but we will fight for yours also. Their is no longer any discussion - this time we will fight if they come near. Charge us later if you like - good luck with that.
Think major earthquake, nuke in LA, or other mass killings. We are not going to sit by while the crazed looters/rapists/murders try to kill our women and children. You work with us or against us - your call. Still, the CHP family across the street will have me and others in front of them. He knows who he is and will probably be gone...I and others won't. We will be armed to the inth degree and shoot anyone who posses a real threat. And yes, we have a certain amount of chain-of-command, so no we won't be a mob.
>>The vast majority of demonstrators are actually employed<<
Where do (did?) they work that they can take so much time off to demonstrate? Must be government employees. I can’t imagine any private sector company that would give anyone that much time off.
I’d love to hear what parties the other 35% belong to but the author doesn’t think that’s important.
I wonder if those who responded to the poll were legally competent to respond at the time.
That can’t be right because the OWS folks say they are the 99%.
Government
99.9% of the protesters do not have a clue regarding how the banks were actually bailed out.
I thought they were there to protest the bank bailouts?
