I believe it may be because there is very little of actual substance that can be cited against Perry.

He has a wonderful record, and he actually has a record, unlike some other candidate I could name but won’t.

You may have noticed there are only a few things that the Perry haters bring up over and over again.

That these things are not true or important doesn’t bother them because, hey, it’s all they got.

Anything that involves checks from the government should be a big NO NO NO from conservatives.

It’s not clear how those “poverty grants” fit into the picture because most anyone one in poverty will be receiving several forms of government support. The main topic of this thread appeared to be how to prevent the poor from being financially harmed by the 9% national sales tax.

I don’t have time to study those tables tonight but will probably look at them later.

The link to the scoring tables didn’t work, so people could go to this page and click on “Scoring Tables” in the upper right of the page.

Perhaps his plan was created in German: Nein! Nein! Nein!

I was a fan of HC before I checked out his tax plan...now, not so much.

I’m pretty sure the EITC is only for single parent households, or was when it began.

I’ll do some research and be happy to admit if I’m now wrong.

We a flat tax; not more of the same special interest preferences and shake downs.

So all of the working poor, who pay no taxes now, will pay the same tax rate as the rich?

Please do (look it up). I did to be sure I was right before posting. Plus, we have a married employee with five children who receives the Earned Income Tax Credit and has for years.

how exactly do you exempt anyone from sales taxes?

By making special enterprise zones out of economically depressed areas.

I would say it would be the same thing as the Fairtax... The Prebate... Pretty simple idea really, just give them the money they are going to spend on necessities up to the poverty level in advance... I dont believe 999 is actually Herman Cains personal creation, he is backing a plan that was put together by many smart people including some top economists, probably many of the same people that created the Fairtax. The Fairtax is a great idea, but without the Transition to it, I could never see how it would work... The 999 is the Transition period!

I’m glad Congress passed a budget and got spending under control so now we can discuss a proper tax rate...

He is correct, how in the hell do you really make people collecting government checks pay anything, ??? That requires welfare reform, not tax reform, someone one seems confused. I believe it is the perrywinkles.

It is the way the fairtax has been written for years... The poor will still have plenty of skin in the game (compared to now), when they buy anything besides necessities... I know plenty of “poor people” on unemployment, food stamps and other government money right now in this terrible economy, that somehow still have money to buy a new 60” flatscreen TV, complete cell packages with internet for the whole family, cable with all the channels and seem to have a couple new tattoos or too much other worthless spending continuously... Especially considering I am working 60 hours a week and cant come close to any of the above. The thing that pisses me off about our current system, is that because I am self employed, I am taxed the same on my money as somebody that only worked 30 or 40 hours a week to make the same amount... and sat and watched TV the other 20 hours... plus since I am self employed, I actually have less in my pocket on April 15th because I have to cover the other half of Social Security and Medicare that their employer covers...

This is Nothing new for anybody that has been following along closely, since 999 is the transition to the fairtax, by his vision, neither of which are his personal plans, or could happen without a constitutional amendment, but they are the plans he is supporting, both have had numerous (top economist) man hours put into the creation and design of the plans... I am not saying this is the only plan that will work, but am saying the only thing that will work to bring America back, is something that starts with completely scrapping the current tax code and brings everybody into the game, including the HUGE cash economy, like drug dealers, whores and even the illegals that are standing out it front of our home depot stores. We need something that stops taxing income and the incentive to earn money and taxing spending instead seems like the best way to accomplish this to me.

Herman Cain's "9-9-9" tax plan lost some its trademark simplicity today when the Republican presidential hopeful carved out a sales tax exemption for the poor.

The 2 things that caused my wife to withdraw her support for Cain were..
Nat'l sales tax (I might have convinced her otherwise)
But the 'exemption ', some sort of economic zone, well that was the nail. And it is a huge negative for me also.

It might be possible to craft a politican-proof tax rate, but when you start playing favorites, the sky's the limit.

Just tossing this out, the military receive government checks and they get taxed. If they can do it, everyone can do it.
