You take them where you can get them, right? So goes the presidential campaign of Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann.
Following Tuesday night’s CNN Western Republican debate, Bachmann made a surprise appearance on Fox News Channel’s “On the Record” with long-time Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton. That’s where Newton revealed he would be supporting the Minnesota congresswoman’s candidacy.
“I watched the entire debate, and I don’t have to tell you how proud I was of this lady because not only did she hold her own, but she kind of stood alone and I’m not talking about being female,” Newton said. “I’m talking about the wonderful things and views that she has for America.”
Host Greta Van Sustren asked Newton if he was a political enthusiast, which he explained he was, adding that he was fully behind the Minnesota congresswoman.
“Yes, as a matter of fact, I am an entertainer but first of all, I’m an American and second of all, I’m a Nevadan, and third of all, I will support this beautiful lady as long as she wants to go,” he said.
Bachmann said she had no problem accepting Newton’s endorsement or that of any other Vegas celebrity.

BTW: Wayne Newton got his big break when he was discovered by Jackie Gleason. Gleason and his entourage were going across country by train and found him in some small town if I remember correctly.

I was at the debate and Wayne was sitting right in back of me and his face is flipping scary.
For the last 40 years, every person who has run for the presidency has worked to get the highly coveted Wayne Newton Endorsement and to no one’s surprise, Wayne gave his endorsement to Michele Bachmann.
Without a doubt, the Wayne Newton Endorsement will catapult Michele Bachmann not only to the GOP nomination, but to fifty state victories in the general elections in 2012, 2016.
And because of the Wayne Newton Endorsement of Michele Bachmann, the people of this nation will demand the repeal of the 22nd Amendment.

This is big, so big that I would not be surprised to see Perry, Romney, Paul, Cain and even Obama all drop out of the 2012 race by noon on Thursday.
You don’t remember correctly. Wayne’s base of operations at the time was in Phoenix. He was being pushed by a local promoter, and the promoter got the attention of several people in Las Vegas. One of the people may have been Jackie Gleason.
Any word on who the rest of the Slim Whitman Impersonators of America (SWIA) are endorsing?
