“Gingrich: Outstanding. He is my second choice right now. We’d be lucky to get him. Unfortunately, the dope in the street thinks more about number of wives than the things that should be most important to us in a dangerous world.”

Don’t be too hard on the dope on the street. It’s not just about his wives. He imploded when he was in charge of the house. His pandering to extreme liberals, his global warming position maintained in the face of all common sense, and his failure to support good conservatives in lieu of supporting real liberals (like Scozzofava or however you spell it), stupid assessment of Paul Ryan’s plan, etc. -

Newt’s a loose cannon and he has the track record to prove it. Unfortunately. We all shake our heads over such a waste of potential. And if there was an election for Republican Debater In Chief he’d have my vote.

But not for President of the U.S.

It’s not all about his wives.

This is my problem with Cain: He sounds so good, just like Newt sounds so good. Yet I wonder will he be willing and able to stick to his principles if elected. I guess I can only hope so.

But I tend towards candidates with proven track records, because I feel like I know where they stand more. How strongly do they hold their positions? Will they back down? Are they just blowing smoke?

You can never now for sure, but, a track record is a good indicator. I like candidates with track records. Anyone can sound good.

I don’t mean to undermine Cain. I consider him a brother and a great American. I may vote for him in the primary.

Good points about Gingrich. I guess he won my heart that day in 1994 when the contenders for Congress stood on the Capitol steps and told us to send them home if they didn’t stick to the Contract with America.

They did accomplish many of those things, too. That was, in a sense, the original tea party.

Gingrich has it in him to do great things. He understands the process. I have more confidence in him than I do in newbies to the game.

Still, good points.
