Herman Cain: Sure, I can see myself releasing everyone at Gitmo in exchange for one U.S. POW
Hot Air ^ | 10/18/11 | Allahpundit

Via Greg Hengler and Guy Benson, if this answer doesn’t destroy him, nothing will. I get the sense watching it that he’s so unsure of how to answer this exceedingly easy question that he defaults to Netanyahu’s position on the assumption that prisoner swaps must always be the wise, statesmanlike, conservative thing to do. The alternative, that he knows what he’s talking about yet is still sincerely inclined to release the guy who planned 9/11 plus dozens upon dozens of other jihadi fanatics in exchange for one G.I., is even worse. I’d bet 95 percent of people asked on the street could answer this correctly, yet somehow our frontrunner not only blows it but feels obliged to hedge weakly by noting that he’d need all the facts to make a proper decision. Here’s a fact: Khaled Sheikh Mohammed blew up the World Trade Center. What other facts do you need?

So the key is to tell our fighting men and women fight to the death and do not become a prisoner.

I just listened to it.

He said he wouldn’t say what Israel did was wrong in exchanging one person for hundreds of others without having access to all of the facts and circumstances, and he wouldn’t say he couldn’t come to the same judgment as president of the USA depending on all of the facts and circumstances.

Bunch of nothing.

He is just being consistent that it is not possible to make definitive pronouncements on these things without having access to all of the facts and advice and making a judgment based on that.

I take it like he will do anything to get one of our own away from the enemy and that includes kicking some a$$. I like the response. It means he cares about Americans. Good on him. It will be nice to have a Patriotic President again.

I watched the interview (and ignored the blogger’s attempt to skew perceptions because he is clearly anti-Cain) and I thought Cain did fine.

We must draft and elect Sarah Palin president in the most crushing tidal wave of enthusiastic good judgment ever seen in the history of this nation. With that one bold move we will accomplish the dual goals of seeing America led by the greatest natural born leader in our generation, even as we witness the final implosion and last agonized shrieks of our endlessly lying extreme left loonies. Their entire movement, from the fabricated attacks on Bush beginning with ‘Blood For Oil’ to the crammed-down-our-gullets lies of Obamacare and the Shovel Ready Stimulus, have been nothing but one vile deceit heaped upon another. Such an absolute inability to deal in the truth or to face the facts of our situation and its solutions only proves that there is simply no place at the grown-ups’ table for these diseased sputa. Good riddance to rubes and bad rubbish. Time to usher in the American Renaissance, carried in on the invigoratingly freshening breeze of President Sarah Palin.

How do you "know" that he will have smart people around him; where is the proof of that?

If he had "smart" people around him, NOW, he wouldn't keep on saying stupid things!

Wrong and bad answer.

I do not think he would actually do this...but he has to not get caught flat footed and answer off the cuff in such scenarios. Herman will have to retract this...and do so as fast as posisble.

What Israel did, IMHO, was a terrible mistake. They traded one for a thousand, 490 of who had been convicted on terror charges.

When they returned to Gaza, they were immediately encourgaed by Hamas to continue the terror.

Israel will pay in blood and lives for setting this example and precedent, and for releasing these killers.

We absolutely must never make the same mistake.

If any of the other campaigns have heard of this, you can bet they will make a point of it tonight.

Cain is starting to suffer from hoof in mouth disease on a daily basis.

Novice politician. That's the problem with a guy like Cain, he does not have the discipline to avoid saying dumb things - lately on a daily basis. He has not honed the political skills yet to win elections, which is why it would have been better if he had run and won a few races on a local/state level first before shooting for the presidency.

This is why most political analysts don't take him seriously and still regard him as a 2nd tier candidate. Under scrutiny, the odds of Cain holding up are extremely slim.

And yeah, I know people will say they don't want an experienced politician - the problem is, people always say they want a regular citizen but the majority will rarely if ever actually vote that way.

GPS tracking chips embedded in the muzzies and I’d release them too... followed by armed drones... Herman probably has that on his mind.

I Agree 100% because it is either that or Revolution ver. 2.0 but something has to be done one way or the other
