Here in the northeast that is taboo; keep taxing & spending! He is slowly turning things around here in NJ (shrinking the government as a necessary step in the process), and while I don’t think he’d “fly” on the national level, people who aren’t from NJ have no idea how absurd our position has been until he came along. Our civil servants became our upper middle class, with machines in place to tighten their stranglehold on the property-owners while guaranteeing their homes would be “un-sellable” due to the cost of our new nobility.
He also probably understands that whatever the media may try to portray the Occupy Wall Street rabble as, a good number of the people are the white Americans (granted, probably socially liberal) that used to work in the offices of lower Manhattan who simply have nothing else to do all day but show up at their old haunts.
