Frankly I don’t see how they can do it so cheaply. Try walking into FedEx or UPS and ask them to send a letter for 50 cents, and see what kind of a reaction you get.

Thats a big part of the problem. They can't do it that cheaply but have to get congressional approval once a year for price increases of a cent or two. FedEx and UPS can raise rates as needed.
