>>> Wait a minute. An 18 year old protester has a $5,500 computer?!!! What the heck is she protesting?! <<<

Mommy and Daddy had to pay for it. It should have been FREE!

I don't know what she had. I checked the Apple Store and the most expensive unit I could configure came to $4K.

Thieves Preying On Fellow Protesters

Why would there be any surprise or even unhappiness over this informal "sharing" of material things?

Isn't their entire being, their world philosophy, the very reason they are there founded on their belief "What's yours is mine"?

Shouldn't they rejoice over this sharing of resources, wealth and material goods?

Wouldn't it be just greed that would cause one to think that they should own something that someone else, another 99%-er, does not have?

Anarchy is breaking out at an organized anarchy rally?

That was unexpected.

—They could have gotten a used of budget laptop for 1,000 and used the remaining 4,500 to pay off debt....—

My wife’s NEW laptop was $425. It does everything but heavy gaming. The $5,500 figure just makes me ask if the girl was lying. That is stoopid expensive. Even my graphic illustrator friend didn’t pay that much for his Mac laptop.

I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500.

Good golly, what kind of Mac is that? I just spec'd out a Macbook Pro at Apple's website with the highest-end options available, and only came up with $4400.

And on the thievery in general, I'm sure many of the "protestors" are the normal homeless folk who are just cashing in on free meals and probably cheap/free drugs and booze. Leaving expensive stuff or cash lying around is just begging "steal me!"

If they are out there protesting, don’t you think that someone might have been able to convince them to pay $5,500 for a $4,000 mac?

The folks preying on the fleabaggers are proving F. Scott Fitzgerald’s aphorism that “criminals are the law’s loyal opposition.” Go to it, boys!

OWS is a graphic representation of what happens to the human body during Hopium withdrawal.

Poor hygiene, defecation on squadcars, living in the gutter, nonsensical utterances, catatonic chanting, "twinkle up" and "twinkle down" hand signals followed by tinkling in the street, petty crimes, theft, and a complete disconnect from reality. The more extreme the withdrawal, the bigger the crimes get.

This reminds me of the "Resurrection City" mess that was dumped on the park area near the Washington monument in 1968. The reflecting pool was called "Lake Urine" by the locals. Robbery, rape and murder were the order of the day.

“I had my Mac stolen -- that was like $5,500."

Boy, that's a lot for a computer! Assuming for the moment that it's accurate, who would bring such a pricey item out to a mass protest--one with a theme of 'economic justice' to boot? It looks like the ex-Mac owner was on the receiving end of some economic justice to me.
