If Perry fails I'm just fine with Cain. I wish the Cain people would have the same attitude.

In my opinion, the difference has to do with how serious someone views the illegals problem.

For people who look at the loss of California and see Texas 10 years from now, it looks like Perry is national suicide.

There is a lot to like about Rick Perry, but if there is one issue on which his position is likely to destroy our long constitutional tradition of limited government and individual freedom and replace it with socialism, then that one issue trumps all the others.

Imagine a sickly patient on the verge of death [Uncle Sam] interviewing prospective doctors.

Into to the room comes Dr. Perry.

Dr. Perry with a big smile says, “I’ve got just the program to get you back to health. I’m going to give you a regimen of antibiotics [cutting government spending and returning powers to the states] and a super-nutritious plan of food and vitamins [opening up domestic energy resources, cutting taxes and government regulation and reforming entitlements].

The patient now sits up and listens hopefully as Dr. Perry continues:

“And then I’m going to cut off your head [legalizing tens of millions of illegals]. Oh wait, I’m not going to call it that [won’t call it amnesty], so let’s just call it separating your head from your body.”

At that point, Uncle Sam is saying to himself in horror, it doesn’t matter that he has this great medicine and nutrition plan, he is going to kill me!

That is why the question of the illegals is not just some minor detail in a big campaign platform.

It has to do with whether limited government and individual freedom will even be viable in the future in America.

Thank you for that.

An emotional and sometime simplistic thread but I agree, the illegal invasion and promiscuity toward it is definitely the most threatening crisis facing the United States in a very very very deep way. As in standing up for the integrity, pride, and faith in the citizen taxpayers' nation.

The physical border question itself is an approachable technical matter of fence, patrol, drones, ground penetrating radar, satellite, Google Earth, AWACS, etc. solved by the US military routinely, e.g. an AOR.

The deportation question also is a fairly straightforward matter of employer, institutional, and personal identification, denial of rights, and self initiated options. Also something solved by the IRS (on legitimate citizens and with supercomputers) routinely.

Given these the obvious issue comes down to the real political willingness to stand by one's legitimate citizen taxpaying constituents as opposed to self-serving hidden national agendas.

Good grief! Garbage in. I’m sorry I wasted my time thinking it might be a serious attempt to explain why you would vote for Obama if the Republican candidate doesn’t meet your unrealistic expectations regarding illegals. You should spend a day with our Border Patrol agents. You should see the hoops they jump through. You should take a close look at what is happening all over the country with illegals. Perry is absolutely right about the thirty foot fence and the thirty-five foot ladder. Cain is absolutely wrong in pretending you can just fry people. I wish he would stand strong on that issue. He has called it a joke...only to repeat it the next day.
