Poll: Perry now down to … three percent in Florida
Hot Air ^ | 10/17/2011 | Allahpundit

Posted on 10/17/2011 3:03:27 PM PDT by Rational Thought

Last month, Insider Advantage had him leading Romney in the state 29/20. A month later, “He now barely has a heartbeat.”

When I saw Perry’s topline number of three percent, I figured the “Ponzi scheme” talk must have sent Florida’s seniors running screaming into the night. Not so. He’s actually doing (marginally) worse with other age demographics in this poll, and in the last poll he did reasonably well with the 65+ crowd, finishing second to Romney in that group with almost 23 percent. That poll was taken on September 13, which was almost a week after Romney started attacking him on Social Security, so if entitlement chatter is what’s driving this, you would have expected to see some of that show up in last month’s data. What’s killing him here, I assume, is the same thing that’s killing him everywhere — his crack about the base’s “heartlessness” on immigration plus general disappointment that the anointed Romney-killer in the race has ended up making Romney look better and better with his debate performances thus far.

“Dunno what changed among them, but I’m glad he’s toast.”

Because a lot of people are morons, with short, short memories. That’s what happens when your population is dumbed down to the American Idol level of critical thinking, you get exactly the political atmosphere we live in. The “Pick your Pony, put on your blinders” mentality. Not every Perry cheerleader is a moron, but Perry is, so...

I’m glad he’s toast, too.

I’m a heartless bitter clinger for Cain.

Unfortunately for the GOP, Cain is a past and present Romney supporter that is leaving the GOP nomination for Romney as Cain spends October hawking his books on a national tour of Barnes & Noble stores.

Cain and Romney and the media have played you like a cheap fiddle.

Herman Cain said Wednesday that he would be unable to support Rick Perry for president if the Texas governor were to eventually win the party's nomination. .... The former businessman said, for instance, that he could support former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney....

Using Michael Steele in any argument against Cain is laughable.

Perry is toast. He should drop out.

Yes, immigration is much more dynamic than the heartless against the caring. We’ve got to have immigration, but it must be legal. The legal immigration system is degrading. It must be changed.

What bothered me about Perry’s supporters were the lies. They put quotes in Cain’s mouth that he never uttered, and I saw w my own eyes how effective it was. People who didn’t know better turned against Cain based on fraudulent ‘quotes’. I saw long-time members of this site lie about Cain—people I formerly respected. I guess in the end it says something very good about Cain. There aren’t enough factual issues on which to attack him, so he has to be lied about instead.

Naps, your posts have been on fire lately. I hadn’t considered the cost Bachmann and Santorum paid in this battle. Thanks for the reminder.

Using Michael Steele in any argument against Cain is laughable. Perry is toast. He should drop out.

Engaging in an ad hominem jibe because of Michael Steele instead of paying any attention to the fact that Herman Cain is paying absolutely ZERO attention to the logistics required to fight and win an election is the same mindless behavior that resulted in all the Sarah Palin supporters looking like fools "Waiting for Godot" when it was obvious that Palin was never thinking of waging a serious electoral war.

"Amateurs talk about strategy and professionals talk about logistics." ..... Omar Bradley

Serious candidates like Romney or Hillary buildup their campaign war chests with the Dollars that will be the "Beans & Bullets" required to wage electoral war. "Phony candidates", like Gingrich and Palin totally ignore the "Beans & Bullets" and spend their time at photo-ops and book tours hawking their own books.

Cain, too, has totally ignored logistics and is spending all of October on a Barnes & Noble book tour.

Cain has already decided to leave the GOP nomination to his past and present favorite, Mitt Romney, and is concentrating his energies on being the next "Celebrity Politician" like Sarah Palin.

Washington Speakers Bureau: Herman Cain, passionate and exceptional leader whose experience has brought him to the pinnacle of both the corporate and political worlds, Herman Cain brings solutions to both businesses—and America’s—most pressing problems.

Perry might have warts but, at least, Perry, like Hillary, paid attention to the logistics that are required to actually TRY to win.

You were fooled once by Palin and you are being fooled once again by Cain.

>We’ve got to have immigration, but it must be legal.<

.
Not only must it be legal, but more importantly, we must not allow useless immigrants into the country with nothing to contribute and who have no intention to ever assimilate and those who end up in the welfare lines.

We must have selective immigration if we plan to survive — it is not quantity that we must seek but quality.

And, somehow you forgot to mention, at the same time winning poll after poll with a tremendous surge in the presidential campaign.

Well, if this keeps up we’ll see a brokered convention. Sadly there won’t be a Reagan available. Happily, there won’t be a Bush available.

Because we grow up hearing oil and gas.

I knew a man who offered three super tankers of LG to NYC when people were freezing to death ...they turned it down because they were afraid of a spill unloading it. S...More people died.
