Primarily because they chose terrible store locations!
I’m in a large growing suburb and the 2 closest to me are each 12 miles away!
I have 2 Home Depot within 5 miles.....

They chose the “Burger King” location model ,, BK just puts a store near any McDonalds that does good volume ... Lowes puts their stores across the street from HD.
They pick good locations ...
The Lowes near me is almost always empty ,, I’m surprised it isn’t on the list.
