One is that we eliminate the 15 percent payroll tax, which allows for no deductions at all – not even for charitable contributions. Some critics have argued that the poor still come out behind because employers pay much of the payroll tax.

You are assuming the poor have jobs? WOW! Let's get real here! And where do the senior citizens who are on a fixed income fit in with the payroll tax? Did Cain eliminate them through death panels or something? I only got to the third line - are fixed income senior citizens issues addressed somewhere else in this long explanation?

not even for charitable contributions

I'm told that Cain claims Christianity and yet, his plan eliminates deductions donated by Christians to churches to carry on the work of the churches and missionaries - thus fulfilling the Great Commission commanded to do. So gov't gets the money and those who holds together the moral fabric of our society as Christians support their endeavors gets zippo! Is Cain really a Christian? Perhaps, I got the wrong info on him. Seems like the Christian poor and the Christian senior citizens are getting shafted big time because rich Cain feels he has a better way.

Sorry PNSN, but I agree with Cain on this issue, and I am a born-again Christian.

The only way we can end the social engineering explicitly contained in the tax code is to end it all.

Furthermore, Christians can do one of four things if they feel they can no longer donate because the charitable contribution tax deduction is repealed:

1. Continue to donate if they have the ability.
2. Re-configure their lives by not buying things they really don't need and still donate to their churches.
3. Obey God and Trust God to take care of them and donate even though it looks like they can't afford to donate.
4. Choose not to donate to their churches if they really can't afford it.

Furthermore, along with the ending of the tax-break, should be the removal of all rules/regulation against political speech in Churches.

I am a tithing Christian, even when it hurts, even in bad times when I'm praying all the checks clear. I would not stop tithing no matter what the government does to my taxes. God comes first.

Now as to your concerns, I believe Social Security payments are exempt from the income tax. I also believe that in the big picture eliminating the billions in built in costs in our system will bring down prices across the board, spur massive economic growth and raise employment, profits and wages. I would think that this most generous country when freed from the shackles of government taxation would be much more free to contribute charitably than they are now. Revenue at our church has been hurt by the downturn in the economy much more than the tax deduction helps it. Christians with jobs and financial security are much more likely to tithe than those who are unemployed, underemployed or worried about every dollar.

I'm not completely sold on all of Cain's plan but he certainly is making people rethink how taxes are collected and look at alternatives to the system that I think we can all agree is broken. If nothing else I believe Cain will force the other candidates and elected officials to address a situation that we have lost to the socialists for 100 years.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
