AND the baking powder.
Almost as bad as when a SIL 'substituted' baking soda for baking powder (she was out) in her Lemon Drop Cookies. It became quickly clear that they were Don't Drop Them Cookies.
If you soaked them in hot hot coffee for about 10 minutes, you COULD get a nibble off the edge of them, without having to drill and use blasting powder.

BOL! A couple of decades ago, one of our younger relatives was dating a good looking/nice gal, aka Bimbo. Her problem was that her elevator stopped a few stories below her brain.
She wanted to bring her special cake to a holiday dinner.
We had several guests over so sample/gourge on the great foods prepared by our family and friends. The meal was superb, and we cleared the table off for the bimbo’s cake.
The same thing had happen. The cake could have been used as a bunker buster bomb. A few guests were polite, however, one relative, who was a chef removed the cake to prevent dental and other body damages.
The Bimbo was out of the potential family roster after that. We feel sorry for her current family and children as we continue to hear stories of her kitchen mishaps.
