I already lost a lot of respect for him over the divorces and remarriages. But this is kind of a no-class move on Gingrich's part.
Not because he attacked Romney (there's a lot of validity in what Newt said), and not because he had worked for Rockefeller 43 years ago himself (though there are people who will say that in his own way, Newt's been a kind of "Rockefeller Republican" ever since), but because he didn't let his own past stand in the way of a cheap shot.
He didn't think, "I can't go with the knee-jerk label here, because I actually was one of the original Rockefeller Republicans myself -- I've got to take a different route." Makes him look petty, desperate, hypocritical, and out of it.
Or maybe it's just really funny ...
