RE: How can you make that claim? Cain’s website doesn’t say that.

I happen to have attended the Florida CPAC and spoke to a few of his staff when I was there a few weeks ago. They told me that there is every intent to exempt SS.

USED goods are also planned to be exempt from the 9% sales tax.

You have to remember one thing — 9-9-9 is a GENERAL BLUEPRINT which is NEGOTIABLE with Congress. The details have to be ironed out.

Nobody but nobody among the 8 candidates running have all details ironed out, certainly not Herman Cain.

You might say to yourself — why then can’t it be placed their website? That is a good suggestion. Maybe it will be updated as the plan continues to be ironed out. Suffice it to say that NOT EVERY INTENDED DETAIL is going to be on the site.

But to say that Cain is some sort of cold blooded bastard who is going to let seniors solely dependent on SS income to hang out to dry is to misread the man’s intentions.

Then why doesn't his website say that?

You have to remember one thing — 9-9-9 is a GENERAL BLUEPRINT which is NEGOTIABLE with Congress. The details have to be ironed out.

Then why doesn't his website say that? And what, exactly, is negotiable? What's deductible? The 9-9-9 rates? Without knowing exactly where Cain is drawing the line in the sand, and he seems to change it every time we turn around, then it's hard to know exactly what the impact to me will be.

Maybe it will be updated as the plan continues to be ironed out. Suffice it to say that NOT EVERY INTENDED DETAIL is going to be on the site.

Why not? Shouldn't there be one place where we go to know exactly what the plan is? His website hasn't changed in weeks, but his promises have. And if we need to keep track of every interview just to know what the details of his plan is on a daily basis then that makes it hard to support something that changes at a whim.

But to say that Cain is some sort of cold blooded bastard who is going to let seniors solely dependent on SS income to hang out to dry is to misread the man’s intentions.

I'm not saying 'hang them out to dry'. But if all of a sudden he's catering to one class of citizens and offering them tax breaks and special concessions that nobody else gets then that's troubling. Why should a couple earning $40,000 under Social Security pay nothing in taxes while a couple making $40,000 working like crazy pays $3600? Where is that fair? And what other segments is he going to buy off with special breaks?
