How could not applying CPR to someone who dies from old age be euthanasia? If you die naturally, your dead. How is that euthanasia?

This isn’t about whether a DNR is a good or bad thing, it’s about making the decision without input from either the patient or the patient’s family. It is very close to euthanasia when doctors intentionally refuse to save a patient who wants to be saved.
Any decision about a DNR order needs to be made by the patient and his family in consultation with the doctor. Doctors have no right to make this decision without input from the patient and family.

As usual, the point is missed on this issue. Not your fault, you're not the only one who doesn't get it. The point is, it is not the doctor's call. It is up to the patient and/or family. Many aged people opt for the DNR designation, and when the patient is incompetent as with Alzheimers say, the family may opt for it as well. But it is not up to some einstein who may barely know the patient much less have reason to consider the patient's wishes.
