I understand (from good sources) that there are transmission lines here in New Jersey (along the Jersey Turnpike) that exceed a million volts. That’s why the transmission towers are unusually high, with unusually big insulators, and located near nothing and no one. Nasty stuff, that.

Those lines in New Jersey are MOST LIKELY 500KV (part of the PJM Interconnection), but COULD BE part of new transmission lines to Virginia Power, at 765KV.

I assure you, EITHER 765 KV or 500 KV are very impressive in insulator and conductor size and spacing, in any case.

There are 1000's of miles of 500KV transmission in the PJM Interconnection (Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland).
