Question the motives of anyone who tells you that border fences don't work. They probably have an agenda that they are hiding.

Actually there wasn’t one at the beginning, but they needed it because too many people were trespassing.

Yeah I love these fences will never work type...ever seen a prison without a fence around it? And how many government elite types live in fenced and gated communities?
A fence only works around the white house because they have armed guards that will shoot your A** if you climb over it. It is a much smaller area to monitor than the border. A fence alone won’t keep a determined person out because there are always ways to defeat those fences. There has to be some kind of surveillance, and violators must be meet with human intervention. That is the only thing that will work in the end. Short of a mine field.
