I think that JJJr's staff may be reading FR! Just the other day, I was posting about just how corrupt and wasteful the government was, spending tens of millions of dollars to create just a few jobs in many of these programs. I postulated that rather than spend the roughly 800 million dollars on porkulus, the government could have just paid 14 million people $50,000 each for the same amount, but the government would never go for that, because when the government is in charge of "redistributing" income, there are always thousands of dollars that need to "grease the wheels" for every dollar that actually gets to where it's supposed to go.
Little did I know that JJJr would take this seriously. So to you, JJJr, I say you should have thought of this on your own, BEFORE that $800 million was wasted. Too late, you can't have it! And calling for Obama to violate the constitution directly violates your congressional oath... Not that oaths or the constitution would ever matter to you, JJJr. The acorn never falls far from the tree, and JJJr learned his corruption for one of the most corrupt race baiting, shakedown artists this country has ever known... His father!

His idea is, of course, absurd. But not much more absurd than what Obama did with his stimulus.
As of Sept 2001, there were 14,000,000 (14 million) people unemployed according to official US gov statistics.
http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.nr0.htm
We all know that the actual number is much higher, but let’s
run with those numbers anyhow.
Ellison says give everybody a job = $40,000/year. Basically, give unemployed people this amount of money.
40,000 x 20,000,000 (20 million people/ 6 million more
than official stats) =
800,000,000,000 (800 billion)
Obama’s stimulus ~850,000,000,000
- 800,000,000,000
Ellison plan would have saved USG ~50,000,000,000
So Ellison’s plan would have saved the US Taxpayer 50 billion dollars + whatever share of unemployment the federal govern paid these individuals over 1 year.
< SARC > So, compared to Obama, Ellison is a real
deficit hawk < /SARC > LOL....

So the 60 million or so people working for under 40K a year would quit their jobs and then what Jr. genius? I guess that we know what the so called “livable wage” is in his small cranium. All able-bodied people on welfare should have to conduct public service to get any benefits.

It’s interesting that the 40k per year number is equal to the $20 per hour number ($20 x 2,000 hours per year) that the OWS crowd wants. It’s like it is one of the left’s talking points.

It doesn’t get any more Marxist. Having observed that, however, his “plan” is infinitely better than waht they are doing now...taking the 800 billion and dumping it into crony coffers to be used to keep themselvres in power in the next election.

Hey, it’s probably more efficient, more fair, and less corrupt than Obama’s “jobs bills”.
(Not of course that that’s sayin’ much.)

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has offered his own $804 billion jobs plan that calls on the federal government to hire the nations 15 million unemployed Americans for jobs paying roughly $40,000 each, and bail out all the states and cities facing budget crises.
This guy is really dumb.
The $40,000 should be just dispensable income, and he's forgetting that people also need housing and food and clothing and transportation and entertainment. So, he needs to make sure that people live for free and have no worries at all in their lives.
Since it would be government fake jobs, why not make those salaries even higher? And, while it's all "free" money, why not give them all a free Chevy Volt from Government Motors? And, make them all unionized, where they could all fight to make sure that those $40,000 jobs are for life, and with a guaranteed 5% per year increase? With that kind of incentive, it would be an incentive for all Americans to become unemployed in order to land those cushy government jobs. Who cares if the economy stops producing when everybody becomes a government employee. All that's needed is a printing facility to print money, and, Voila!, everybody lives in Utopia.
And, hey, we would become even more attractive for illegals, and, they could take over the jobs that some Americans would refuse to do for a mere $40,000.

Hire them to do what? Would they be required to actually show up in order to get paid? What would the penalty be, for example, if they were chronically absent from work? What if they under-performed? Would there even be performance reviews on a quarterly/annual basis, or would these be no-show or idle-time type “jobs”?
Other posters have already mentioned, some welfare recipients would opt out and keep their current deal, because an income of $40K would be a cut for them. Would there be an option for them to do this, or would the current welfare be replaced by this new hire-every-unemployed-citizen plan?
I’d actually like to hear more from Mr Jackson Jr about his “everybody rides” proposal and vision.
Ideally, he could also have his Dad appear with him, to convert the proposal into catchy rhymes, which would more likely be understood by the potential “hires”.
