Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has offered his own $804 billion jobs plan that calls on the federal government to hire the nations 15 million unemployed Americans for jobs paying roughly $40,000 each, and bail out all the states and cities facing budget crises.
In an interview with the Daily Caller on Wednesday, the Illinois Democrat applauded President Obama for directing his staff to greenlight job-creating initiatives without congressional approval after his $447 billion jobs bill was defeated in the Senate this week.
Now were making some progress, Jackson said, comparing the legislative gridlock in Congress to the states that seceded from the union during the Civil War.
"We've seen Congress is in rebellion," he said, "determined to wreck or ruin at all costs."
Jackson said the governments direct hiring of the nations 15 million unemployed Americans would cost $600 billion.
It could be a five-year program, he said. For another $104 billion, we bail out all of the states. For another $100 billion, we bail out all of the cities.
We put people to work cleaning up communities. We put people to work through a civilian conservation corps, through a Works Progress Administration because the hour demands it, he said

I thought first Fox News had been hacked, when reading this story; as GLDNGUN above asked if this is "satire".
All at taxpayers’ expense, of course. These people are becoming so transparent that it’s laughable; if not frightening.
Why just $40K? Why not pay everybody $1Million. Then we’d all be rich, right? s/
The union would settle all that when they negotiate the new contract.
Hey Jesse Jackson Jr, you dumbass POS SOB commie pig! I’ve got a better idea, that was already implemented in the USSR (before they went belly up because of failed economic central planning polices). How about if we copy the USSR for this program.... the protesters & unemployed pretend to work and the gubmint pretends to pay them. Everybody ends up being a winner. /s
Doesn’t yo daddy need another assistant?
I can see the protesters now rushing out to "sign up"!! [NOT]
Send me $40,000 and I’ll pay off my house. Talk about a stimulus package. Jackson is nutty.
Why not a million each? Or better yet, 10 million each...
What is it with black politicians (democrats) and Marxism?
And who pays for this?? And where is the cleaning equipment etc going to come from? Wont someone have to pay for that too? Do we all get a free broom?
insanity
It’s kind of odd here. $40k in New York City won’t cut it for most folks who are unemployed. $40k in Detroit will buy you a fancy brick house in a rough neighborhood, and a 8-year old Cadillac that you drive up and down the street. Then you go to Red Bay, Alabama, and $40k buys you a triple-wide, with a brand-new Jeep at the local dealer.
There is a broad sense of fairness or unfairness....depending on your location in life....to this Jackson ‘rainbow-dream’.
My personal advice is that if you are unemployed and under the age of thirty....go to your Army recruiter and sign up. You will get a far richer deal in the end....and feel good about the paycheck that the government hands you.
I think it should be $400000 each. Or maybe $4 million each.Hey, the government can just inflate the currency however much they want.
I’m sure many people would go in tomorrow and do something to eventually get let go, then collect unemployment for awhile, and wait for their $40K federal job. $40K is more than a lot of people make right now. Far above minimum wage. Almost $20 per hour, and you get federal benefits.
Wait what do our fighting young men and women risking their lives in these unfriendly countries in ALL these wars we have going on... make???
lol...And if there is a trans-gender washroom you can use that too..
This lunacy by the leftist in our government is enough to drive a sane man crazy.
OMG!?
What colossal stupidity...lol
The average Freeper is an Einstein compared to this buffoon.
