Because 98% of them give the other 2% a bad name. Have you missed the stories of shooting decidedly non-violent family dogs as a matter of course? Have you missed the murder of a deaf homeless person, and the beating of a mentally retarded man? Have you missed the story of a CCW permit holder being told he should be shot, at a traffic stop? Have you missed all the “isolated incidents” in which a SWAT team goes after the wrong house, sometimes with fatalities? Did you miss the murder of a Marine? Peace officers are worth respect, law enforcement officers merely fear. But there aren’t so many peace officers left these days. Every podunk town has a SWAT team these days, and is looking high and low for excuses to keep it honed.
So just say you’re a cop hater, too.
