With the primaries moved up so early it will soon be time for conservatives to make their choices. The menu is set. One of these candidates will be our nominee. If not Herman Cain, then who?

First Art Laffer, now Paul Ryan.

Now that some serious heavyweight conservative economic guys have come out in favor of the 9-9-9 plan, can we start having a serious dicussion of the plan’s MERITS instead of just slinging will accusations?

“Paul Ryan ‘loves’ Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan”

Now that right there would be one heck of an endorsement.

“Mark Block, Cain’s chief of staff”

Wait...you mean Cain HAS a chief of staff? Why, that would hint that he has a STAFF! Here I’ve been told (right here on FR) that Cain has no organization at all.

Guess another anti-Cain meme is getting shot down.

Wow Huck, first Art Laffer and now Paul Ryan.

I guess that means that you will be finding some way to throw crap on these two liberals.

It's a VAT tax, it's a VAT tax, it's a VAT tax...blah, blah, blah...

Huck, want to reconsider your VAT tax posting on other blogs?

“House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan says he “loves” presidential candidate Herman Cain’s signature “9-9-9” tax plan.

Dr. Art Laffer also wrote a piece praising 9-9-9, so you have two of the most respected people that are dealing with economics in America praising 9-9-9,”

RINOS! SQUAWK! RINOS!

At least Cain has a plan. Perry and Romney have been stuck using focus group tested and GOP Establishment approved platitudes.

House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan says he “loves” presidential candidate Herman Cain’s signature “9-9-9″ tax plan.

That's an endorsement that matters to me. Ryan has a good mind, he's spent a lot of time thinking about the economic situation we're in and he's put forth some very interesting ideas himself.

Please .... what am I missing? What is it about the addition of a new national tax on EVERYTHING we purchase that has conservatives jumping for joy?

Does anyone really believe that “9-9-9-” won't become 50-50-50 during our children's lifetime? And if you do believe, please tell me why— because I desperately want to feel the joy too.

Thanks.

I never thought I’d see the media working so hard to promote Newt, but Cain has them wetting their pants. I love it.

I'm glad it is being discussed. It is an idea worth discussing. However, it is not currently a doable or passable (in congress) plan; it is only a good starting point for discussion. Cain's demeanor, candidness, genuineness is what I like about him...not his 999 plan. The plan is getting him temporary notice....but he needs more than a “catchy” sounding plan to win an election. I fear he will become a one trick pony.

Cain Nomination:

If Herman Cain is nominated, it will be a seismic shift in voter demographics. Gone for ever will be the solid 95% black vote the Democrats depend on, gone for ever will be talking points of liberals that Republicans are racists, and even better, we will have nominated the most conservative candidate who is not a life long politician and has no political baggage, is likable, has actually run a business successfully. Not a perfect candidate, but significantly better than others.

Heard Hannity yesterday on the way home from work and he had the Great Dr. Thomas Sowell. I was waiting for Dr. Sowell to make a comment on 9-9-9. Did/does anyone know what he thinks of it?

Ryan loves the audacity but he's not full-on endorsing it. On that point, I agree. I love the concept of scrapping the code and, like Ryan, I've been a flat tax fan for a very long time.

9-9-9 has many good elements, many positive themes and I'd like to see even more detail than posted online. The detail must exist if it's been independently scored as Cain says.

I'm sick of the same edge nibbling so many other candidates want to do with the existing code.

As a trained federal tax lawyer, it's no surprise Bachmann opposes scrapping the code. The convolution of the existing code is a guaranteed employment act for folks like her. They can set themselves up as high priests and priestesses of tax compliance and rake in millions that could be going to new hires or R&D.
